Black Kite

Home for a few days before heading to Poland. On Wednesday I had great views of this Black Kite (only the fourth ever in Shetland) which was feeding on a dead lamb just a couple of miles down the road from our house. A good patch tick!

Later in the week, a Great White Egret was at Loch of Spiggie along with this Ruddy Shelduck - a potential first for Shetland. The latter was favouring a large open field full of gulls, Greylags and Common Shelducks and was going to be impossible to approach, so I put up a hide overnight and got these images at 6am on Friday morning.
