Eshaness pre Storm Gertrude

A brilliant winter wildlife day trip in the north and east Mainland. Highlights included prolonged views of a mother Otter with her two cubs fishing and playing, Mountain Hares, lots of Common and Grey Seals and a nice selection of birds including Little Auk. Amazing scenery as always at Eshaness - this was the scene at Calder's Geo. Thanks to Lara and friends for a great day!

Up Helly Aa and Winter Wildlife

Today saw the conclusion of our Up Helly Aa and Winter Wildlife trip. It has been a fantastic four days for our two groups with many wildlife highlights including Otter, Mountain Hare, lots of Common and Grey Seals, Long-eared Owl, Little Auk, Black-bellied Dipper, Glaucous Gull, Merlin, Peregrine, Slavonian Grebes, White-fronted and Pink-footed Geese, Great Northern and Red-throated Divers, Snow Bunting and lots of stunning Long-tailed Ducks. We even managed to squeeze in some additional birding for those leaving on the late afternoon ferry today and saw Velvet and Common Scoters plus an Iceland Gull. It goes without saying that the Up Helly Aa procession was absolutely incredible! More on this exciting holiday which is now open for 2017 bookings here.
